I am getting nervous about being ready for Thanksgiving weekend. See if I can get someone to program these chips for me. If it doesn't work I will first have a good cry ( : then I may step back and punt. I'm going to get the board outlet lines wired and get my communication adapter made then give it a try. Could it force the software to reconize the device when I select 'read' which then allows it to 'write'? I don't know? I am quickly getting frusrated! I hate to have to keep coming on here with questions that are probably something I did wrong or have not looked in the proper place for answers. hex file and 'write' - 'verify' and it says it was successful and as I mentioned I see numbers changed in the large box. This is when I hit the 'read' selection and it does it. It says it found pickit but it says nothing about finding the device as it does in your video. Waynej - Sorry for my struggles with this but I must have something wrong. Select '/mclr' under the power selection.

I also found thru some internet searching there may be a power option I need to look at for the pickit to reconize the device. If I risk goofing up a chip I won't do it. Then put it back in an select read to verify what I am doing is working. The reason I ask is I would also like to clear a chip then take it out. I am not sure if the selection box said clear or erase but I know there was a box that I assumed meant clear all data from the chip.I don't have it in front of me right now. Is there any harm to the chips to clear them. Can I assume then that the code is on the chip and what I did was good? It appeared to be the same 'code' I had seen before. I reinserted one of the chips after I had done this process and selected 'read'. so any of u who dont want to download the whole MPLAB package u can just download MPASM. From there when I was able to 'write' and 'verify' successfully can I assume it means that code is on the chip? I am assuming that is the code brought in with the hex file. Once I imported the hex I noticed in the large square box that alot of the numbers changed. I guess while I'm clogging up the board with silly questions I'll ask another.
